The City of Newark, New Jersey’s largest City, completed a $20 million sale leaseback transaction with the Essex County Improvement Authority (ECIA) as part of its 2012 budget financing program. Grant Engineering was hired by the City as the ECIA Program Manager for this project. We worked with the Newark Engineering Department (NED) to coordinate building life safety, HVAC, energy efficiency, and ADA compliant improvements that were required as part of the financing package. GECG worked with NED to ensure that the various design and construction management consultants adhered to the original project improvement scope for each building. GECG verified construction progress and approved all construction payments in consultation with NED during the duration of the Construction Project.
